Christmas Bucket and To-Do Lists

I came across this idea on Victoria, Truthfully and fell in love with it. I think having a monthly Bucket List sounds like so much fun and a lot less pressure filled than a To Do List. It can include all the fun things that you would like to do and none of the other boring things that you know you need to get done and is probably already in your Planner or Bullet Journal.

Here is my December/Christmas Bucket List:

  1. Finish the Deathly Hallows book and movies (Harry Potter is amazing for Christmas and Halloween)
  2. Drink a Toffee Nut Latte at Starbucks with a friend
  3. Watch the Nutcracker and the Four Realms with my bestie
  4. Take the time to write Christmas cards for my friends and family
  5. Buy and light a festive scented candle (or maybe a few)
  6. Wear my Christmas earrings (the gingerbread men are my favourite!)
  7. Learn to play a Christmas carol on the piano
  8. Make/bake a family Christmas recipe (gingerbread or Christmas pudding)
  9. Decorate the tree with my sister
  10. Write a letter to Santa – just for fun
  11. Paint my nails with Christmas colours
  12. Buy a pair of Christmas themed PJs
  13. And slippers!
  14. Decorate Christmas cookies
  15. Watch as many Christmas movies as I possibly can before the end of the year

I think all of these will be really fun and I haven’t done a lot of festive themed activities over the past few years. Unfortunately I won’t be around snow so no snow angels or snowmen for me. It’s also not cold enough for a Christmas Sweater (even though I secretly have always wanted a Harry Potter themed one) but the pajamas are a close second. Hopefully I’ll be able to tick off all or most of these at the end of the month!

I’ll include a bit of my To Do List so you can see what I mean about the difference between the two:

My December/Christmas to do list:

  1. Study for and write exams
  2. Write and schedule Blogmas and regular posts
  3. Take Instagram pictures
  4. Finish buying presents
  5. Wrap all the presents
  6. Pack for my trip(s)
  7. Set up my Bullet Journal for 2019
  8. Write my New Years Resolutions
  9. Sort out my YouTube channel
  10. Declutter my room in Dubai and in SA

As you can see, this is a lot more down to earth and less whimsical than the Bucket List. They are all important and most of them have to get done – there’s no ifs, ands, or buts. Also the sooner I get them done, the better. Then I can spend the rest of the time leisurely going through the Bucket List instead of stressing over deadlines.

I really have fallen in love with this concept and I think it might be a fun idea to do every month with a bit of a seasonal theme and it’s particularly cute around the holidays. A Bucket List is a really fun way to get ideas and reference when you don’t know what to do and want to step away from Netflix for a while. It’s also a great way to keep life fun and exciting. Time passes by too fast when you’re not paying attention and there’s a lot that I haven’t done yet that I still want to do.

This is also a lot less intimidating than a regular Bucket List because it can contain anything and everything. This way you keep it focused for a certain time period and whatever you don’t do this year, you can always add it to next year’s list.

What is on your Christmas Bucket List? If you make a similar post link it below, I’d love to see them!

Happy Holidays
