Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

Whilst scouring the internet for Blogmas ideas, I came across this tag by Jenniely and I simply had to do it! It looked like so much fun and perfect for Blogmas because I have been spending 99% of my time with my nose buried in a book this year. This is perfect for book-lovers to give some insight on their book-related-habits and I really enjoyed reading everyone else’s posts.

This is what Jenniely has to say about the tag:

At the bottom of this post is a clean list to copy and paste, as well as a graphic you can add to your post or share on social media.

Rules

  • Tag & link the person who tagged you
  • Tag and link me/this post (if you would be so kind, I love reading your answers!)
  • Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
  • Tag another 10 people!

If you’ve not been tagged, go ahead and do it anyway!

I will include everything she mentions at the bottom of the post. Here are my answers to the tag:

1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it  ✔

Guilty! I have been so consumed with rereading books form when I was younger that I haven’t really spent much time reading new books or ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies), never-mind review them.

2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley

Confession: I have no clue what this means. I recently signed up for NetGalley and I don’t really know how it works yet. Need to spend some more time discovering the ins and outs.

3. Rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did) ✔

Around halfway through the year I kind of stopped reviewing books, even though I intended to review every book I read this year. I just haven’t felt comfortable reviewing books lately and I would rather do some other bookish posts – like this one. They’re much more fun and this way I get a lot more books read without stressing about the reviews.

4. Folded down the page of a book

Nope! Haven’t done that since I was a kid and kept losing all my bookmarks.

5. Accidentally spilled on a book

Nope! Similar to above, I have been a lot more careful with my books recently and I also read a lot more ebooks lately.

6. DNF a book this year ✔

There have been one or two books that I found so boring that I simply could not continue. Others, I did not finish because I wanted more time to do the activities they mention, so I left them for the end of the year/the holidays so that I can grab a notebook and complete the exercises.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it  ✔

I don’t think I actually bought any physical books this year, so no. However, my ebook list continues to grow exponentially…

Correction. My bestie informed me that I have actually bought books this year. Many in fact. I just forgot about it and clearly I haven’t read any of them either. Woops.

8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework) ✔ ✔ ✔

All. The. Time. ‘Nough said.

9. Skim read a book ✔

Some poetry books were a little boring and I wasn’t really connecting with them so I unintentionally started skimming them just to get them finished.

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Actually, I started out with a goal of 36 and I kept increasing it every time I passed it. I’m now at a goal of 100 and I have 5 books to go!

11. Borrowed a book and not returned it

Haven’t borrowed any books this year. Although I do have some friends’ books at home that I need to return if I ever see them again.

12. Broke a book buying ban ✔

Like I said, haven’t bought any books this year so we’re safe.

Woops again. Bought quite a few. Now that I think about it, I may have bought some online too… oh deary me.

13. Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about ✔

This is also part of why I stopped reviews. I was reading too quickly and not writing reviews fast enough.

14. Wrote in a book you were reading

Um. No. Never.

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

I’ve added all the books I’ve read so far.

16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend

See number 11.

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

No one has asked me that this year, luckily. Most of my books are in SA and I wouldn’t want to lend any of the books I have here with me. I only trust my best friend Mekayla with my books anyway.

18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book

NO! Haven’t even broken the spines of my own books.

19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged

I have actually been covering my books with d-c-fix transparent book film to keep them nice and neat this year.

20. Sat on a book accidentally

My dogs probably have when I wasn’t looking, but I keep my books safe usually. I can’t recall ever sitting on a book before – it’s usually glued to my hand.

Final Score: 8/20

Yay! I barely made it onto the Nice List!
