Something New
I’ve never participated in a Readathon before but when I came across the O.W.L.s Readathon, hosted by Book Roast I just had to do it. This readathon lasts for the month of April so today is the last day to figure out my To Be Read list.
It’s Harry Potter themed (the Ordinary Wizarding Levels are exams that the magical students complete in Fifth Year), and she put so much work into the prompts and even made a careers leaflet so you can pick a Magical career. The objective is to read one book for each O.W.L. you need for your career, and to get Outstanding you need 9 O.W.L.S overall.
Later in the year is the N.E.W.T.s Readathon which works a bit differently.
But for now, here is my career and plan:
Librarian
I chose the career of Librarian for this year and you can download her leaflet for more information. Here are the mandatory O.W.L.s for the Librarian career, and my book choices:
Ancient Runes: Retelling
Ella Enchanted – Gail Carson Levine
Arithmancy: More than 1 Author
My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories
Defence Against the Dark Arts: Reducto – Starts with R
The Return – L.J. Smith
History of Magic: Published 10+ Years Ago
Live Writing: Breathing Life into your Words – Ralph Fletcher
Transfiguration: Sprayed Edges or Red Cover
The Hunters – L.J. Smith
Extra Credit
Those are all the mandatory O.W.L.s for my career, but I did also pick reads for the other prompts, so I can try for the Outstanding:
Astronomy: “Star” in Title
The Sun is Also a Star – Nicola Yoon
Care of Magical Creatures: Land Animal on Cover
The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs – Steve Brusatte
Charms: Ageline: Adult Work
Get Started in Writing a Novel – Nigel Watts & Stephen May
Divination: Set in the Future
The Giver – Lois Lowry
Herbology: Plant on the Cover
Wild Beauty – Anna-Marie McLemore
Muggle Studies: Contemporary
Sad Girls – Lang Leav
Potions: Next Ingredient: Sequel
The Salvation – L.J. Smith
So, for the next month I will do my best to read all 12 (or at least 5) books and I’ll let you guys know how it went at the end of the month!
Until next time,
xoxo
