The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Another lovely collection of poetry by the wonderful Ms. Kaur. However, Milk and Honey is still my favourite.
Some of the themes in this one were less relatable for me personally, but I can sympathise with her. It also highlighted some more social issues that should be discussed more to raise awareness.
I also recognised the poem that she performed on her TED Talk, which is what made me want to read her poetry initially. Moreover, the poems concerning her mother were particularly touching. My mom has also played a huge role in my life and how I think about the world.
Overall, she has stuck with her poetry style to touch on sensitive issues and create a dialogue amongst her audience.
I’m looking forward to reading more from her, hopefully in the near future.
