The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

This book took me absolutely way too long to start and when I finally had the time, I finished it too quickly. My sister warned me that these books would rip my heart out and so far they have done just that.

It is a very fast paced novel with a lot happening. The deception and mystery keep the reader constantly on their toes. I can honestly say I’m invested in these characters. I hope my favourites make it to the end.

I am still rooting for Thomas and Theresa to have a happy ending. Right now they aren’t on the best of terms and I missed having her there on their journey through the Scorch. I was just as confused as Thomas with Theresa’s behaviour close to the end of the novel. The addition of Group B also promises more interesting developments in the future, as girls add a different dynamic.

The setting is entirely different compared to the Maze, and the bond between the boys has grown stronger. They are all determined to make it through the Trials and receive the Cure. I for one, hope that this is not another red herring.

WICKED has succeeded in proving how in control they are of everyone’s fates by making their presence known when Thomas was unexpectedly injured, as this did not follow WICKED’s plan for the Variables. There are certainly still a lot of questions left unanswered and hopefully, we find out what WICKED is really up to in the next book.

Now all I want is to get back to Dubai ASAP so I can read The Death Cure immediately.
