City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The first time I read this, I don’t think I managed to finish it because I got a bit bored to be perfectly frank. This time around I was determined to finish successfully.
I have some mixed feelings about this book. I don’t really see the point in much of what happened. Honestly, Jace and Clary mostly annoyed me again in this one. It was more interesting reading about Simon and Magnus and the other characters.
Her staying with the boys was sort of pointless and not much came of it at all, except drawing out the awkwardness of her mixed feelings for the other-Jace, and Sebastian again trying to pretend he cares about her. Clary didn’t really develop much in this one either.
I particularly enjoyed the subtle references to The Infernal Devices characters and objects. I really wouldn’t have made the connections if I read them in a different order.
I’m glad Jace finally got back home though. Maybe now he and Clary can work on fixing their issues so we can go back to how it was at the end of the original trilogy…
