The Shadowhunter’s Codex by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a companion book for the Shadowhunters universe. The Codex is mentioned whenever a new or inexperienced Shadowhunter pops up.
The book is spruced up a bit with notes from Clary, Simon and Jace peppered throughout. They also add some of their opinions and some updates to what the Codex says. Some of it is a bit inaccurate for those of us who have read the Infernal Devices, but it makes sense that the Clave would want to keep that information to themselves in case a Codex fell into Demon hands.
Overall not the most exciting read but it adds to the universe. Most of the information is set up like a textbook and there is no real storyline, so eventually, it does become a bit tedious to get through.
It contains in-depth information on everything from the different kinds of demons and weapons, up to names of important angels. Everything a Shadowhunter in training could need. If you are a hard-core fan, it is most likely already in your collection.
