Okay yes I know it’s Wednesday and I am a bit late but here is my third installment of Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader. Last week I talked about my most anticipated reads for the second half of the year and it was so much fun!
This week I once again needed Goodreads to help me out a little to figure out which authors I have read the most books by. Sidenote – my current Goodreads is only from 2016 onwards so it isn’t entirely accurate.
1. Meg Cabot: 33+ books
Meg Cabot is the clear winner. According to Goodreads, I have read 33 books and counting by this author. I am currently close to halfway through my 34th book by her and it’s a trilogy so it will end up being closer to 40 by the end of this year.
I have also read at least ten other books by her during high-school which I have been meaning to reread at some point to. I think it’s probably closer to 50 books if I have to be honest, but for the sake of fairness I am recording it as 33 for the time being.
I love that she writes young adult, middle grade, and adult books. Although her YA books are still my favourite from her. Reading all of her books is one of my reading goals, and I have quite a ways to go.
2. Jean Ure: 24 books
Jean Ure is one of my favourite middle grade authors! I own two bindups of hers and the rest of her books I managed to locate online and binge read them a couple of years ago. Her books are often set in the UK and she has a way of writing the most relatable characters.
Recently I read a handful of books by Cathy Cassidy and her middle grades are also set in the UK with lovable characters and she immediately made me think of Jean Ure again. I think I’d like to read as many books as I can by both these authors, their storytelling and characters have a way of crawling into your heart and then refusing to budge.
3. Cassandra Clare: 21 books
Cassie Clare, the Queen of the Shadowhunters universe! I am not surprised at all that she made the top three. I love her books and I’ve even read a couple of her fanfics too. Her most recent release was Chain of Gold and I think it’s my favourite so far. I can’t wait for the second installment which comes out early next year.
I know 21 is a lot, but I expect this number to keep growing steadily. I still want to read her collab series with Holly Black, and I don’t expect her to be done with the Shadowhunter books any time soon.
4. J.K. Rowling: 16 books
I am actually surprised at this number, I didn’t think I had read so many companion novels and short stories for the Potter-universe. I haven’t read any of J.K. Rowlings other works like the Casual Vacancy or her books under the pseudonym of Robert Galbraith yet. I am curious how her writing compares so I might give it a try in future.
5. Ally Carter: 14 books
I recently read all of Ally Carter’s Gallagher Girls and Heist Society books. I hadn’t really counted how many there were until now and I was quite shocked. I am also looking forward to reading some of her other books, and I think she has a new middle grade series that has recently been released.
6. Lemony Snicket: 13 books
This was not a surprise, A Series of Unfortunate Events has exactly 13 books and it’s one of my favourite middle grade series. I wanted to watch the new Netflix show, so naturally I had to reread the books as well.
7. Jenny Han: 9 books
Once again I can thank Netflix for leading me to books. I had read the first book in the Summer series back in high school but I never finished the series until last year. The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movie came out on Netflix and I fell in love with it, meaning I had to read the entire trilogy and then 2 more trilogies by Jenny Han, including the Summer series which I finally finished after a gap that was way too big!
8. Tony DiTerlizzi & Holly Black: 9 books
These two authors share a spot because they both write the Spiderwick books, and all 9 of these books are in that universe. I have read more Holly Black books in the past but I can hardly remember them, so they will be added to the list after a reread. I am also really excited to read some of her newer releases, like The Folk of the Air trilogy.
9. Stephenie Meyer: 8 books
Luckily I reread all the Twilight Saga books and a whole bunch of companion novels in January this year. I have also technically read The Host but I haven’t reread it since 2016 yet so it will have to wait a while before it can join the ranks. I am also really excited for the official Midnight Sun release in a couple of months and I have heard that she also has an adult book that I need to read.
10. Richelle Mead: 8 books
All of the books I have read by Richelle Mead are a part of the Vampire Academy series. I am yet to read its companion series, Bloodlines, but when I do she’ll be bumped up a bit higher on the list.
Wow this was so interesting to look into! I am genuinely surprised by some of these results. I think this is something I would like to revisit in future to see how the list changes.
Which author have you read the most books by? Has anyone read more than 50 books by one author?
Lots of love
xoxo

Meg Cabot is a great choice.
My TTT .
I like all the YA on your list. It has blown my mind how many lists Meg Cabot appeared on this week. I truly had no concept of her being this popular. I think you have one of the highest numbers for her, though, and finishing her canon sounds like a fun reading goal! I have a few prolific authors like that. It’s like having infinite reading material — or you read them all and hit Achievement. Win/win.
I love your graphics for this post. Very creative. JK Rowling made my list too. I’ve read Harry Potter and some of the companion stuff.
