Gods Behaving BadlyGods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Now this book was definitely a surprise. If anyone has ever wondered what mischief Greek Gods and Goddesses would get up to in modern day London, this is the book for you. I have always been a lover of mythology, no naturally I was intrigued by this particular story.

It is definitely only for those over the age of 18 and filled with just enough chaos and debauchery to make it believable. I would expect nothing less from these mythical characters. Zeus is after all renowned for his countless affairs and mischief. I would expect nothing less from his family.

The book follows their fall from grace and seeing Gods struggle to navigate a very close to human existence is humbling, even in a work of fiction. The main storyline is essentially due to a prank amongst the siblings and extended family. This is where one of them falls under a love-spell and humans are thrown into the mix for some extra fun.

The story has evoked many conversations and thoughts regarding religion and beliefs. This is a topic I always find enlightening. The humanity of the so-called Gods made me reconsider my thoughts of humans with a God-complex or narcissistic behaviour. It is all part of human nature and not always the best of us.
